Fresh Graduates ONLY -Engineer- Firmware Engineering - Test Development

The Programme

We are seeking an experienced engineer to be a part of the Firmware Test Development Team.   
 
The team's primary objective is to develop automated test scripts which validate HDD firmware against industry standards, customer specs, and internal features/functions.   
 
The team works hand in hand with Firmware Development engineers and Firmware Validation engineers to define and enable testing for next generation WD drive products.

What You Will Do

  • Design, develop, integrate and maintain test scripts using Python to validate WD eHDD firmware and hardware features to ensure WD product meets the quality specifications. 
  • Work with cross functional teams to identify, plan, and coordinate innovative ways to test firmware functionality. 
  • Adapt test suites changing customer/ firmware requirements, and future architectural needs. 
  • Assist in failure analysis to help develop and improve firmware quality robustness. 
  • Help develop and improve our internal processes to improve our efficiency and performance. 
  • Participate in Scrum & Agile processes to plan, execute, and coordinate the team’s work. 
  • Be part of the team to deliver next gen cutting-edge storage products with SAS, SATA and PCIe interfaces. 
  • Collaborate and design solutions for challenging yet unique problems to improve firmware quality robustness.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor or Master in Computer Science, Computer/Electronics Engineering or equivalent required. 
  • Hands on experience in object-oriented programming, Python, data structures, algorithms. 
  • Capable of quickly learning new firmware, hardware, systems, tools, and methodologies. 
  • Ability to rapidly learn new technologies, complex code.  
  • Strong aptitude and penchant for problem solving, and complexity analysis. 
  • Ability to effectively manage projects and tasks to deliver deadlines and commitments.  
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication. 
  • You are comfortable and enjoy working in a dynamic and ever-evolving environment. 
  • You can be a fun and enthusiastic teammate who enjoys challenges and celebrates successes. 
  • Self-motivated, self-directed and ability to work well with people. 

Would be an added advantage if you have:  

  • Familiarity with micro-controller architecture (ARM or ARC), embedded systems and RTOS desired. 
  • Knowledge of SAS, SATA and PCIE interface. 
  • Experience in the use of bus analyzers, emulators and other firmware debugging tools is a plus. 
  • Knowledge in data analytics, data visualization, machine learning.
