The EHS Engineer is responsible to provide advisory service on EHS regulatory compliance and management systems and work within a small team of EHS professionals. The role will also conduct inspection and evaluate the environment, equipment and processes in the workplace to ensure compliance with government EHS regulations and industry standards. As part of the EHS team you will investigates incidents/accidents to identify the causes and provide advice on corrective actions to reduce, if not eliminate, similar risks.  

What You Will Do 

  • Implement environmental programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Monitor air emissions, hazardous and solid waste generation, wastewater, and chemical usage for waste minimization and regulatory tracking. 
  • Prepare and submit all required site environmental reports.
  • Ensure overall site environmental compliance and improved site environmental performance.
  • Coordinate and support site efforts to implement and maintain an ISO 14001 certified EHS Management Systems.
  • Organize and administer programs and procedures to ensure compliance with both regulations and Global/Site Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Conduct internal audits of environmental compliance to regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Interact within various site departments to continuously integrate EHS within the organization.
  • Work to develop a proficiency in various safety and health programs.
  • Work with process engineers and senior management to develop site specific pollution reduction metrics.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and management of site Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) training.
  • Review new processes and process modifications for EHS impacts.
  • Prepare for, and participate in Company, Regulatory, and ISO EHS Audit Programs. 

Required Skills and Abilities 

  • Bachelor’s in environmental engineering and/or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to manage complex projects with multiple functional groups and levels. 
  • Team player or/ and leader with good interpersonal skills and strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project.
  • English language proficiency is required, both written and spoken. 
  • Ability to lead/influence people for EHS activities and will be responsible for driving EHS behavior in the sites.
  • Comfortable working with people from around the world, flexibility with meeting times and deadlines.
  • Able to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in ISO14001 and ISO 45001 is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Malaysian Legal and Regulatory Requirements Experience working and communicating in an office setting.
