Component Supplier Quality Engineer - Fresh Graduate

The Programme

As a Component Engineer, you work with various teams (including NPI) to source, select, and qualify components used in the company’s products. Investigates alternate component technologies or supplies, reducing cost and improving quality and reliability.  

Acts as technical interface between component suppliers and R&D engineers, determining new and alternate sources. Investigates alternate component technologies or supplies for reduced cost or improved quality and reliability and implements changes. Develops guidelines/procedures on vendor selection. Evaluates supplier change notification and qualifies changes, as needed. May maintain component data management system including qualification records/results/documentation. 
 
You work closely with R&D Hardware Designs Team and Commodity Manager to formulate commodity strategies to meet NI’s current and future needs by creating sustainable supply chain for long term (reduce supply of assurance risk through multi sourcing, commercial strategies and fulfil R&D needs by matching NI’s technology roadmap with suppliers’).

What You Will Do

• Responsible for building strong relationships with monitoring and improving the quality performance of our electronic component suppliers. 
• Focal person to liaise with production on supplier quality issues related to electronic components (passive, IC, connectors etc.). Involved in liaising between supplier and R&D on NPI activity, quality improvement and engineering changes. 
• Understands and proactively addresses internal customers’ requirements and concerns. Analyzes requirements and problems and recommends appropriate solutions. 
• Participate and support supplier assessment and qualification activity as well as yearly supplier audits - locally and oversea.  
• Support and align with global commodity strategy and regional commodity strategy. 
• Effective technical resource for product/process/service with other groups. Might need to provide technical support to cross functional teams.  
• Mentor new engineers or technicians. 
• Execute actions to Department Goals and Strategy. 

Required Skills and Abilities

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering required.  
• 0-2 years in Supplier Quality Engineering. 
• Fresh graduates are welcomed.
