Position Description: 

As a SIG Software Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc. you will work as part of the Applications Software Engineering team, and be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining software applications - primarily GUI.  Development will be done using Java.  You may be asked to help create software requirements and specification documents following standard department practices. 

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Help create software requirements for software projects.
  • Design and implement applications as needed for others within SIG and other end user customers.
  • Perform complete testing of each release prior to deployment.
  • Working directly with software engineering peers to understand and fix issues. 
  • Identify and address root cause problems.
  • Quickly adopt and integrate new tools, systems, and functionality. 
  • Participate in continuous improvement of software design and implementation. 
  • Develop and maintain software and documentation. 
  • Promptly respond to inquiries or issues.
  • Assist in system installation and configuration.
  • Provide end user training when necessary.  

Required Skills and Abilities


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent foreign education in Computer Science or Software Engineering. 


  • Knowledge in developing and supporting applications for the Windows and Linux Operating Systems. 
  • Knowledge in designing and coding applications using object-oriented principles. 
  • Knowledge in coding and supporting applications written with non-scripting languages, primarily Java. 
  • Knowledge in designing relational databases (i.e., MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Knowledge in developing SQL commands and stored procedures.
  • Knowledge in web design and web frameworks (i.e., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSF, PHP).
  • Familiarity with IDEs.  


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English).
