The Role: 
 
The Cargo and Marine 24x7 Operator is the principal figure responsible for ensuring high operational performance through active engagement with terminal operations.  
 
This includes thorough checks, continuous monitoring of vessel movements, efficient handling of berthing and unberthing, cargo operations, and managing ad-hoc tasks and exceptional situations in all OCE & SEA Ports (excluding TPP/SIN) on a 24/7 shift basis. 
 
Key Responsibilities: 

• Operational Oversight: Oversee marine planning, monitoring, and execution in accordance with the End-to-End process map to ensure smooth and efficient port operations. 
• Daily Operations: Execute daily operational tasks within the shift setup specified by the 24x7 manager, maintaining high standards of responsibility and care. 
• Port Operations and Monitoring: Provide continuous monitoring and management of port stays, addressing husbandry issues such as repairs and bunkering to support ML stakeholders. 
• Contingency Management: Handle cargo and marine contingencies for incoming and berthing vessels using tools like
• SharePoint and local resources. Participate in contingency planning to ensure vessel operations are safe and efficient both at sea and in port. 
• Communication and Process Improvement: Manage berthing communication changes and contribute to projects that utilize frontline, terminal, fleet, and vessel command knowledge to enhance and optimize port operations. 
• Performance and Cost Management: Manage supplier service levels, drive performance improvements, and lead initiatives aimed at cost reduction.
• Shift Coverage: Handle cargo operations during afternoon and night shifts and carry out additional tasks as required by the 24x7 manager. 

Accountability:

• Operational Excellence: Manage operational contingencies in alignment with SOPs and guidance from principals, achieving Key Performance Indicators.
• Team Support and Development: Support colleagues facing operational challenges, maintaining professionalism and contributing to team improvements to enhance Employee Engagement Scores (EES) and promote work-life balance. 

Professional Stream: 

• Role Dynamics: This position encompasses roles that manage and operate maritime vessels (owned, chartered, VSA) tasked with transporting customer cargo/containers. It caters to professionals primarily applying technical discipline knowledge, with potential informal supervisory responsibilities or process and program management. 
• Professional Development: Progression in this role reflects deeper professional knowledge, enhanced project management capabilities, and increased ability to influence organizational decisions. Employees at this level work independently within defined boundaries but require supervision for complex tasks.
• Solutioning and Leadership: Solutioning involves selecting from known alternatives within the area of expertise. Leaders evaluate the effectiveness of solutions and manage day-to-day employee activities to ensure task completion.
