Intern - Accounting & Finance - Immediate Start

The Programme

We are looking for someone to support the C&C team in the period end close activities, as well as special projects where applicable.  
The candidate will also work on execution of internal controls. Key area of support from the candidate would financial data extraction, rework and analysis for the purpose of support business decision making. 
Preferred Period of Internship Required - November 2022 - April 2023 (6 months).

What You Will Do

  • Participate in month-end GL (general ledger) closing activities and financial reporting of Market’s results. Support in the preparation and review of Balance Sheet reconciliations. 
  • Review of journal entries and execution of Internal Controls in accordance with GSK Internal Control Finance Framework. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and other functions (e.g., P2P, O2C, Stat & Tax) to ensure successful month-end closing, reporting activities. 
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Obtain high level overview of working in finance department of a multinational organization. 
  • Learn about different systems and processes used in financial department of large multinational organization. 
  • Obtain initial knowledge on data analysis and data driven decision making. 
  • Get acquainted with accounting standards and their applicability in pharma context. 
  • Obtain high level understanding of financial reporting risk management.

Required Skills and Abilities

Business Skills and Competencies:

  • Must be fluent in English – both written and spoken. 
  • Educational background – studying Finance/Accounting/Business Administration/Economics related degree (undergraduates with one year or less remaining to graduation when starting role). 
  • Proficient in use of IT and software/systems (excel, outlook), ideally document management and database systems. 
  • Aware of accounting and financial reporting standards.

Behavioral Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to work independently as well as part of a team. 
  • Proactive, self-motivated and displaying initiative in solving problems 
  • Actively seeks to improve processes making them more effective and efficient. 
  • Attention to detail, good analytical and problem-solving capabilities. 
  • Ability to plan and manage workload to ensure all key deadlines is met. 
  • Used to work with tight timelines and in a demanding environment.
